El Paso Radio: Provencio Out At KLAQ

Teresa Provencio
There is some debate as to the reason for Teresa Provencio's leaving, but there is no doubt about the legacy she has left behind.

"I thought you that the receptionist was pretty funny, so we should put her on the radio," KLAQ radio personality Buzz Adams told Fox14 TV.   He was there when Provencio started her job on the air at KLAQ.

She was a temporary secretary who seemed like a natural for radio.

"She was real amateur. She was practicing how to go on air and she was splendid the first time she went on," said Adams.

Twelve years later, Provencio ended her time at KLAQ with this Facebook post: "Today is my last day with the KLAQ morning show. The show is going in a different direction to appeal to a younger audience so I have been asked to step down."

Adams said in his opinion, he believes that age was not an issue.

KLAQ says that formally they did not wish to comment on the issue.
