LA Radio: It Pays To Play The Hits

Just ask Top 40 station KIIS-102.7 FM, which, reports the LA Times, on Monday finished No. 1 in the Arbitron radio ratings for Los Angeles-Orange County for the third month in a row.

The station averaged a 5.4% share of the audience, according to the survey of listeners ages 6 and older between Oct. 10 and Nov. 6. More than 3.8 million people tuned in for at least five minutes each week.

KBIG-104.3 FM, which features many of the same artists as KIIS, was No. 2 for the third month in a row, with 5.3% of the audience, followed by hip-hop outlet KPWR-FM (105.9) and Top 40 KAMP-FM (97.1), tied with 4.3%, and oldies station KRTH-101.1 FM with 4.2%.


The market's top-rated morning DJ for the sixth month straight was Ricardo "El Mandril" Sanchez of regional-Mexican music station KLAX-97.9 FM, who captured 5.6% of the audience. 

Kevin Ryder and Gene "Bean" Baxter of KROQ-106.7 FM were second with 4.9%.

Elsewhere in the ratings: KFI-640 AM continued its reign as the market's top-rated talk station, finishing in a tie for ninth overall.
