NOLA Radio: Cumulus Ousts 'Home Team' For Tom Joyner

"The Tom Joyner Morning Show" will take over mornings on KMEZ Old School 106.7 FM starting Jan. 2, 2014, parent company Cumulus Media confirmed on Friday, according to nola.com

The program, which will air 5 to 9 a.m., appears to unseat "The Home Team," long a staple on the New Orleans morning radio scene. Both "Home Team" co-hosts LeBron "LBJ" Joseph and Kelder Summers were fired Friday.

“In New Orleans, we are extremely excited to have a leader like Tom Joyner join our line up," Susan Lucchesi, regional vice president of Cumulus Broadcasting, said. "Old School 106.7 is one of the most community-oriented stations in New Orleans and 'The Tom Joyner Morning Show' is a leader in community outreach and entertainment. This is a perfect fit for our New Orleans Cluster."

Lebron "LBJ" Joseph, who co-hosted "The Home Team" with Kelder Summers, is a longtime fixture in the New Orleans radio. "It's not an 'old' thing, Old School," Joseph told Dave Walker when the show started, opposite the syndicated 'The Tom Joyner Show' back in 2001. "Young adults don't want to be put to sleep. We sort of bring fun to it."
