All-time Top 10 Super Bowl Commercials

The commercials have become a big part of the Super Bowl, and this time of year leading up to the big game always gives us media stories looking back at some of the best Super Bowl commercials ever. So here from Time Out New York -- located in the city right across the Hudson River from where the game is being played this year -- is their list of the all-time Top Ten Super Bowl commercials:

  1. Apple, "1984" (1984) -- Compared IBM to Big Brother ahead of the launch of the first Mac
  2. Coca-Cola, "Hey Kid, Catch" (1980) -- Pittsburgh Steelers star Mean Joe Greene throws his jersey to a kid who gives him a Coke
  3. McDonald's, "The Showdown" (1993) -- Michael Jordan and Larry Bird face off in an epic game of horse
  4. Wendy's, "Where's the Beef?" (1984) -- Clara Peller's star-making turn
  5. Volkswagen, "The Force" (2011) -- Little boy dressed as Darth Vader thinks he used his mind to turn on his Dad's Passat
  6. Doritos, "Live the Flavor" (2007) -- First fan-created commercial to air during the Super Bowl after getting the most votes online
  7. Budweiser, "Whassup?" (2000) -- You remember all those guys saying "Whasssup?" to each other over the phone -- and then everyone you knew doing it for months afterward
  8. Budweiser, "Frogs" (1995) -- Frogs rhythmically croak out the Budweiser name
  9. E-Trade, "Baby" (2008) -- The debut of the E-Trade talking baby
  10. Reebok, "Terry Tate Office Linebacker" (2003) -- A football player tackles office workers who step out of line
