Cumulus Downsizes Westwood One

Following the recent merger of Cumulus Media and Westwood One, everyone suspected there would be some adjustments made.  Afterall, CEO Lew Dickey said as much last fall on a conference call with investors.

At the time,  Dickey estimated there's $40 million worth of cost reductions between the two entities. “And so as a result, we’ve got a lot of duplicative overhead and so those are immediate opportunities to create efficiencies — and so that’s really what’s driving the near-term cuts.”

When push came to shove, several key executive position have been eliminated at WWOne.  Reportedly, among those gone include, but not necessariyl limited to:
  • Christian Allbee, Chief Marketing Officer
  • Eileen Decker, EVP/Eastern Director
  • Amy Bolton, SVP Talk and News Programming
  • Paul Bronstein, SVP Research
  • Chris Corcoran, NBC Sports Radio EVP/GM
  • Dee Perkins, Director of Affiliate Sales
CEO Paul Caine and EVP of strategic partnerships Max Krasny departed earlier.  There has been no word from Cumulus as to how many total employees are being layed-off.
