Austin Radio: JB and Sandy Morning Show Returns

Many Austin radio listeners rejoiced on Monday as longtime radio team JB Hager and Sandy McIlree returned to the airwaves.

It's the first day the longtime Austin radio personalities and their new producer Johnny are doing morning drive on Austin's The Fringe 105.3, translator K287FG.

"We're going to get back to connecting with the city like we always wanted, and I think the music fits the city better than anything in town," Hager told KVUE-TV.

"We're all corporate radio refugees,” McIlree said.  "This is kind of a reinvention of who we are and what we do, and we're happy."

The Fringe format is alternative current and classic hits.  It's owned and operated by Genuine Austin Radio.

Bob Cole is a partner and says in a time where ratings and radio conglomerates are king, his group wants to give Austin's airwaves a more local feel.

Right now Cole and his partners have six frequencies on Austin's radio dial, including KOKE-FM and the Horn 104.9. He says there are plans in the works to strengthen the signals and keep growing with Austin.
