DC Radio: CCM+E Names New PDs For WBIG, WASH

CCM+E/Washington has announced  that James Howard has been named Program Director of Classic Rock WBIG (BIG 100.3) and Kenny King has been named Program Director of AC WASH-FM (97.1) and Adult Hits WQSR (JACK-FM), effective immediately.

In addition to Howard's new duties programming BIG 100.3, he will also continue to program iconic Modern Rock WWDC (DC101).

He began his radio career with Clear Channel in 2001 and since then has made stops in Orlando, Albany, Atlanta and Tampa.  Howard joined the Washington, D.C./Baltimore market in 2010 and most recently programmed WWDC and WQSR.

"WBIG is such an exciting opportunity," said Howard. "I couldn't be more thrilled."

King is an industry veteran and has been on-air and programming for more than 27 years, serving markets like Washington, D.C.; Pittsburgh; and Charleston, S.C. He has worked in the Washington, D.C. market for nearly 15 years in a variety of roles including Operations Manager and Program Director at WRQX, WJZW and WVRX, where he developed on-air and digital brands for a variety of formats.

"I am absolutely thrilled to program WASH-FM, a station I've admired for years!  The opportunity to join the WQSR team in Baltimore really makes this the most exciting time in my career," said King. "I would like to thank Thea Mitchem, Dennis Lamme and Meg Stevens for inviting me to be a part of their incredible programming team and I look forward to winning with so many of the talented people I know and respect at Clear Channel."

"Kenny's extensive experience and success in the DC market make him the perfect choice to program both WASH and WQSR," said Meg Stevens, Vice President of Programming, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Washington, D.C./Baltimore. "James' incredible success with WWDC makes him a natural fit for WBIG."
Tom's Take: There has been some street talk that King may recruit personality Jack Diamond To WASH for mornings. They worked together at WRQX.
