Aussie Radio: ARN Dominates 25-54 Ratings

WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda (aka Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller) continue their domination over Kiis 1065’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O (Henderson) in the latest breakfast radio ratings, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The WSFM pair jumped 1.5 points to 11.5 per cent, leaving their Australian Radio Network (ARN) stablemates behind in the dust: Sandilands and Henderson dropped 0.5 points to 9.5 per cent.

Having swapped stations from 2Day FM, the Kiis 1065 stars started the year with a bang, tying with Jonesy and Amanda in the first ratings in March. But they have been going backwards ever since.

Duncan Campbell
ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said the audience shift didn’t happen by chance.

"We took a number of steps to support Amanda and Jonesy - including changing the format from an old '70s to a more contemporary format and you’d have to think it effective," he said.

Campbell was sanguine about Kyle and Jackie O's show since it meant that ARN still had the two top-rating FM breakfast shows. "They came out of the blocks hard and this is just a bit of settling back.

"We expected we would dominate the Sydney FM market in 2014 but it's happened slightly earlier than we expected," he said. "Between the two stations we now have an absolute lock on audiences in the between 25 and 54."

WSFM managed the largest overall rise, 1.1 points to snare 10.6 per cent of FM listeners. Add Kiis 1065’s 7.9 per cent average to the WSFM fan based and that means ARN now owns 18.8 per cent of listeners, a strong position from which to pitch to advertisers.
