Westwood One has announced that radio industry sales veteran Steve Townsend has been hired as Senior Account Manager in its network sales division.  He will work closely with the company’s agency client partners to create integrated brand activations and campaigns.

Townsend is working in the New York City office and reports to Darrin Klayman, SVP, Network Sales.

"Steve has a proven track record and he comes with an immeasurable wealth of sales expertise," said Klayman.  "His multimedia experience and passion fit well into our desired DNA as we strive to build a team that will provide integrated multi-platform solutions for our clients."

Prior to joining Westwood One, Townsend was a Sales Manager for Clear Channel's New York cluster, where he oversaw sales for WLTW-FM and WAXQ-FM.  He was also responsible for managing sales for the automotive category across the entire Clear Channel/NY group of stations.

Townsend also served as Sales Manager for Citadel Broadcasting (WPLJ-FM) and CBS Radio's WXRK-FM.  Additionally, he served in a numbers of sales capacity roles with WCBS-FM, including stints as Account Executive and Local and National Sales Manager.

"Westwood One is at the forefront of delivering solutions and driving revenue for clients," said Townsend.  "From its customized content, events, talent endorsements, local activations, digital initiatives, and geo-targeted programs, it's clearly the place to be and I'm thrilled to be part of the momentum.  Thanks to Steve Shaw, Ron Furman, and Darrin Klayman for this great opportunity."
