Less than a year into her run as co-host on 2DayFM Breakfast alongside Merrick Watts and Jules Lund, Sophie Monk has called it quits, The Daily Mail reports.

The bubbly blonde's management The Fordham Company confirmed on Friday that the 34 year-old has resigned to Southern Cross Austereo bosses.

'I gave notice to SCA on Sophie's behalf recently after she carefully re-evaluated her position on the breakfast team,' Sophie's manager Nick Fordham told Daily Mail Australia.

'She has enjoyed the role but felt she needed to move on and seek new challenges,' he added.

Sophie will remain on the show until her contract finishes up at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Head of Content at Southern Cross Austereo, Craig Bruce, has spoken about the blonde's decision in a statement on the 2DayFM blog, which began with: 'Soph has let us know that she's not up for the early starts anymore'.

The bubbly blonde also revealed a few months ago in a chat with celebrity doctor Dr Oz that she struggles to get more than three hours sleep in her new role and drinks almost a bottle of wine each night.

The show began this year after the departure of Sydney's FM leaders The Kyle and Jackie O Show and boasted a strong line-up, featuring not only Sophie, Merrick and Jules but Spice Girl Mel B.

Rumours have been swirling for months that the disappointing performance of the show across the ratings year has 2DayFM bosses looking for replacements to take over the slot in 2015.

Speculation is rife that comedic duo Hamish & Andy (Hamish Blake and Andy Lee) will return to the breakfast spot.
