Des Moines Radio: Ken Miller Walks From KXNO-AM

Ken Miller
iHeartMedia's KXNO 1460 AM radio has lost one of its flagship sports radio talkers.

Ken Miller, longtime co-host during the 4:00-7:00 pm time slot, has resigned effective immediately. KXNO announced that Miller "left to pursue other opportunities."

Miller told KCCI-TV8 that he is going to re-join longtime co-host Marty Tirrell to bring "Marty & Miller" back on a yet unannounced radio outlet.

Marty Tirrell and Ken Miller are widely credited to bringing the sports-talk format to central Iowa.

"Marty & Miller" debuted on 1490 AM in June of 1996.  The duo later took to the airwaves at KXNO, first during a Saturday morning timeslot, then moving to 4:00pm when Steve Deace moved his show to WHO radio.

"Marty & Miller" came to an end in the wake of a profanity-laden tirade between Tirrell and co-workers that inadvertently was broadcast.  Tirrell was fired in the wake of the incident.
