D-C Radio: WNEW 99.1 FM Quickly Drops Overnight Talk show

CBS Radio's News WNEW 99.1 FM has already cancelled at least of its talk shows added just last week.  The station has dropped the syndicated 'Overnight America' show.

According to program director Robert Sanchez, "We heard from many early risers who listen to WNEW in the 3 and 4 AM hours who preferred our traditional format. We were doing live and local news, traffic, and weather updates every 15 minutes inside 'Overnight America,' but our listeners wanted more. So we listened and were are back."

DCRTV says it's  hearing rumblings that WNEW is considering running some locally-produced talk shows in the midnight to 2 AM slot. However, the station is sticking with syndicated financial talker Dave Ramsey in the post-8 PM evening slot. "The response has been overwhelmingly positive," according to Sanchez adds.

  1. As an avid listerner...I think the addition of a local talk show makes sense.
