Darrell 'Doc' Rodgers, a former Assistant General Manager of the Cincinnati Reds and radio host on 700 WLW, passed away on Tuesday after a five-year battle with cancer.

Rodgers, 52, announced in 2010 on his radio show that he had stage four lung cancer. He continued to work for 700 WLW hosting the 'Extra Innings Show with Doc Rodgers' through his illness.

He pitched in the Reds and San Francisco Giants minor league system for six seasons. Rodgers was the Reds Assistant General Manager for five seasons between 1997-2002.

"We are saddened at the passing of former Reds Assistant GM, Doc Rodgers. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family," the Reds announced on Twitter.
