Atlanta Radio: Steve Goss Announces Retirement

Steve Goss
After spending more than 35 years in Atlanta radio, WABE’s "Morning Edition" host Steve Goss has announced plans to begin his retirement after Sept. 4.

“I’ve had the privilege of hosting "Morning Edition" for more than eight years now … working alongside many bright and talented colleagues.  I will miss them very much.  What I won’t miss is getting up every day at 4 a.m.,” Goss remarked during his program on WABE 90.1 FM.

Prior to spending eight years as local host of National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” for WABE, Goss worked for Clear Channel Radio in Atlanta.

He began as a weekend host for WPCH on April 1, 1979, transitioning to full time by February 1980. During the next 28 years, he hosted a variety of shifts on WPCH Radio “Peach” and “Lite FM” during the afternoons, middays and mornings. Goss was promoted to program director in 1990, but he remained on the air with “Peach” and “Lite FM” until December 2006 when the radio station’s format was changed to country.

In 2013, Goss was named a career achievement inductee to the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.
