Report: iHM, Ryan Seacrest Extend Contract

Ryan Seacrest
While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the extension is said to lock the “American Idol” host in for three more years hosting several shows including “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” which plays in 170 markets. His current pact was set to expire this year.

But, reports Variety,  the extension will also expand Seacrest’s responsibilities, adding advisor duties to iHeartMedia brass that will give him strategic input on a range of the company’s assets.

“Ryan is unique, standing alone in today’s world as someone who crosses all media as an expert on both the talent and business sides, and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our core team,”  said iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman.

While Seacrest has plenty of other responsibilities beyond his iHeartMedia gig, his radio deals has been described as among his most lucrative revenue sources. While “Idol” will end next season, Fox has tapped him to host a new unscripted series, “Knock Knock Live,” launching later this month.

In addition, Seacrest’s dance card still includes his production company, clothing line, endorsements, investments, philanthropies, and his New Year’s special on ABC.

“In the new iHeartMedia, where we connect our fans to their favorite programming and music – and advertisers to consumers – innovation and creativity is more important than ever. Ryan is unique, standing alone in today’s world as someone who crosses all media as an expert on both the talent and business sides, and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our core team,” Pittman noted in a statement announcing the news Monday.

Added Seacrest: “I’ve been active in everything from broadcast radio to digital, from television to social media and more – and the wonderful thing about my extended relationship with iHeartMedia is that it ties everything together. I’m grateful for the support of Bob and Rich. Their continued confidence fuels my creative spirit and inspires me to do a job I’ve loved since I was 15 years old.”
