SC Radio: Community To Acquire Glory Stations

Community Broadcasters LLC has purchased four signals from Glory Communications, Inc. out of Columbia, South Carolina and has filed for transfer of the licenses pending approval from the FCC. Doug Ferber of Defcom Advisors, LLC brokered the sale.

Community Broadcasters LLC, in partnership with Northwood Ventures, currently owns and operates 16 signals in Elmira/Corning, Olean, Ogdensburg and Watertown, NY.  In September, they purchased 12 radio stations, 7 translators and 3 TV construction permits located in Florence, Sumter and Orangeburg, South Carolina from Miller Communications. The purchase from Glory Communications brings Community Broadcasters’ total holdings to 42 signals.

“We established Community Broadcasters in 2006 with the vision to become the voice for the community, focusing on local news, sports and area events – not just syndicated programming. Our stations are considered great places to work and support their local communities in every way. We intend to continue this tradition and extend that culture to our new stations in South Carolina,” says Jim Leven.

“We’re complimenting our current radio holdings in these three fast-growing South Carolina markets. The Glory Communications’ purchase furthers our vision to grow a small-market radio group in strategic locations throughout the U.S.” adds Mittman.  Community Broadcasters plans to continue the current format in these markets.

The 4 stations in South Carolina purchased from Glory Communications, Inc.:
  • WLJI 98.3 FM – Summerton, SC
  • WTQS 1490 AM – Cameron, SC
  • WSPX 94.5 FM – Bowman, SC
  • WPDT 105.1 FM – Coward, SC
