San Diego Radio: KFMB-FM Now Playing "Whatever, Whenever'

Ending weeks of speculation, a new era for San Diego’s KFMB 100.7 FM signal began at 10:00 AM today (local time) with the launch of “100.7 KFM-BFM San Diego.”

In a news release, the station promised to deliver “true variety, that rocks,” and is taking a “playing whatever, whenever,” approach, while featuring a diverse music library curated specifically to the tastes and lifestyle of San Diego.

The new format was officially introduced by “Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw” Morning Show host Dave Rickards, who was also featured in recent TV and radio spots teasing a new station to come.  The “DSC” will remain unchanged on the station, airing 5:00 to 10:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with all cast members returning.

“Finally, the day has arrived, and it’s time to rock and roll!” said Michaels.  “100.7 FM is a storied frequency in San Diego.  I’m honored to have the opportunity to create a new radio station, and we already have the market’s number one morning show as the foundation.  Additionally, it’s super cool that we’re bringing back the station’s proper name and using the iconic call letters.  KFMB-FM, San Diego!  I believe many San Diegans are about to have a new favorite station.”

The previous “Jack” format was dropped prior to Thanksgiving, and replaced with seasonal “Jack Frost” holiday music, fueling rumors of a new format to come in 2016.  The day after Christmas, the station hosted nine days of “stunting” with a new format every day, ranging from “All AC/DC,” to “Outlaw Country.”
