Baltimore Radio: CBS To Unveil UpClose Performance Studio

CBS RADIO/Baltimore has announced the debut of the newest entertainment venue, UpClose Performance Studio – a state-of-the-art space, which the radio stations will use to present invitation-only concerts and special events to its listeners.

Officially opening on July 20, the top-quality equipped studio will host performers and other celebrities for concerts, talks and various “meet & greet” opportunities.

Upcoming performances at the venue include singer/actress Sofia Carson (July 20) the band Magic! and singer/songwriter Gnash (July 22) and Jordan Smith (July27), last year’s winner of Season Nine of the TV show “The Voice.”  Fans can win their way into these special events through various on-air and online promotions and giveaways.

The UpClose Performance Studio will feature a multi-camera HD Video system for streaming and podcasting, so that listeners will be able to enjoy the performances online, either on their computer or mobile device.  Additionally, the studio will permanently house a full complement of high-end instruments, including drums, keyboard, guitars and amps, allowing musical artists to perform without having to bring their own equipment.

A theater-style all-LED professional lighting system is being installed by Showtime Sound of Frederick, Maryland, responsible for stage lighting for a number of recent performance tours, including Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, and Kevin Hart.

“Our UpClose Performance Studio is a great way to extend our reach into the community,” said Robert Philips, Senior Vice President/Market Manager of CBS RADIO Baltimore.  “We’re looking forward to providing our listeners with this unique opportunity to hear, see and meet some of their favorite artists in an exclusive and intimate setting.”
