Pillsbury To Examine Radio's Financial Future

Leading financial forecasters and radio group executives will provide insight on radio’s economic future in a session titled “Pillsbury’s Broadcast Finance Forecast- 2016 Leadership Breakfast,” Wednesday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at the 2016 Radio Show.

Now in its 26th year, the session is again hosted by law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, with breakfast provided by Media Services Group. The Radio Show, produced by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), takes place September 21-23 at the Omni Nashville Hotel.

Scott Flick
Scott Flick, a partner at Pillsbury, will lead a discussion between top radio business executives and representatives from lending and investment firms.

This year’s panel features Beasley Broadcast Group interim CEO, Executive Vice President, and CFO Caroline Beasley; Cox Media Group Executive Vice President of Radio and CMG Research Bill Hendrich; Alpha Broadcasting Chairman Larry Wilson; U.S. Bank Senior Vice President of Media and Communications Division Garret Komjathy; and Capital One Managing Director/Team Leader for Tech, Media and Telecom Ray Shu. Prior to the panel, J. Davis Hebert, Wells Fargo Securities Director of High Yield Media, Cable and Telecom, will present Wells Fargo’s annual report on the financial state of the radio industry.


CAROLINE BEASLEY
Caroline Beasley serves as interim CEO, Executive Vice President and CFO of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. Since joining the company in 1983, she has served in various capacities, including business manager, assistant controller, and corporate controller. She is also a past Chairman and current member of the NAB Radio Board.

SCOTT FLICK
As a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP, Scott Flick represents media entities on transactional, regulatory, business, finance, litigation, and policy matters. He has handled over $30 billion in broadcast acquisitions and mergers, and is the founder and chief editor of CommLawCenter.com. He has represented many of the largest companies in the broadcast industry, and is regularly quoted by both mainstream and trade press on communications law and policy matters.

J. DAVIS HEBERT
Davis Hebert is Director of Wells Fargo Securities’ High Yield Media, Cable and Telecommunications research sectors. Hebert started with the company in 2007 as an associate analyst covering the healthcare and gaming sectors. Previously, Hebert provided loan underwriting and portfolio management functions for media and telecom.

BILL HENDRICH 
Bill Hendrich is Executive Vice President of Cox Media Group’s Radio. In this role, he is responsible for programming, operations and sales for Cox’s 59 radio stations in 11 markets. Previously, Hendrich was the Vice President and Market Manager of Cox’s six station radio cluster in Jacksonville, Florida. He is currently on the NAB Radio Board of Directors and has served as the Chairman of the Florida Association of Broadcasters.

GARRET KOMJATHY
Garret Komjathy has 31 years of corporate banking experience, including 20 years in media and communications new deal origination and relationship management. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, he was responsible for managing the New Jersey Department of Banking as part of Governor Chris Christie’s Administration. He has also served as Managing Director & Originator in GE Capital’s Media, Entertainment & Communications Group in New York and as an originator in Bank of America’s (formerly FleetBoston Financial) Media, Communications & Entertainment Group. In 2015, Garret received the U.S. Bank’s Summit Award as recognition for being among the top wholesale bankers.

RAY SHU
Ray Shu joined Capital One in April 2016 and currently serves as Managing Director and Head of Originations for Capital One’s Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) lending platform. Prior to joining Capital One, he served as Senior Managing Director and Team Leader for GE Capital’s TMT business. In this position, he led his team in providing senior secured financing to middle-market companies and sponsor-based activities in various TMT sectors.

LARRY WILSON
As founder and Chairman of Alpha Media, Larry Wilson oversees more than 2,400 employees working in 250 radio stations in 51 markets across the country. Alpha Media is the fourth largest broadcast company in the United States and specializes in live and local radio content, community involvement and the creation of live events. Earlier in his 35-year radio career, he co-founded Citadel Communications in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he assumed the roles of Chairman and CEO and took the company public in 1998.
