D/FW Radio: KDMX Adds Kannon To PM Drive

iHeartMedia’s KDMX 102.9 Now, Music Variety for Dallas/Ft. Worth, announced today that local on-air personality Kannon will host the station’s afternoon drive programming, effective June 1. Kannon will broadcast weekdays from 2 – 7 p.m.

“We are very pleased to add a well-known local personality to our afternoon drive slot,” said Jay Shannon, Program Director for 102.9 Now. “Kannon is a familiar name that has been on the radio in Dallas/Ft. Worth for several years and he understands how to connect with listeners as well as what it takes to be successful in this market.”

Kannon began his career in radio at the age of 15 in Raleigh, N.C. He most recently served as morning co-host at KVIL in Dallas/Ft. Worth. He also previously served as morning show host at KLIF and mix show DJ in Boston for the nationally syndicated program, Open House Party. He has worked in markets such as Raleigh, Portland, Atlanta and Philadelphia.

“102.9 Now is a powerhouse here in Dallas/Ft. Worth and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the community’s drive home,” said Kannon. “It’s a great honor to get to work with Jay, the community and my new family at iHeartMedia here in Dallas. I am ready to get started.”

Kannon’s resume includes stations in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Portland, Maine. Per a KVIL release, he began his radio career as a high school student in Raleigh, N.C., hosting weekend overnights at WRDU-FM and went on to become the mix show DJ in Boston for a nationally syndicated program, Open House Party.
