CableTV Ratings: FBN Tops CNBC


Fox Business Network has extended its winning streak to five months over business news rival CNBC in total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Overall for October, Fox Business averaged 208,000 viewers during business day hours, while CNBC clocked in with 162,000.

CNBC still edged Fox Business in the key 25–54 demographic that advertisers covet most, delivering 27,000 in the category compared to FBN's 23,000.

Fox Business has topped CNBC in 12 of the last 13 months in total viewers, according to Nielsen figures, according to The Hill.

When compared to October 2016, Fox saw a 5 percent gain in the demographic, while CNBC dropped 18 percent.

For the month of October, Fox Business registered seven of the top eight programs on business television in total viewers, according to Nielsen figures.

"Lou Dobbs Tonight" finished as the most-watched program in business news for the month with an average of 375,000 total viewers and 45,000 in the demographic at 7 p.m. on weeknights.

Dobbs, a longtime CNN anchor before jumping to Fox Business in 2011, has led the way in total viewers on business TV for 61 straight weeks.
