Twin Cities Radio: KQRS to Honor Military Veterans

KQRS Radio in Minneapolis announces a special broadcast to recognize and honor Minnesota military veterans on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11th. KQ’s “Military Takeover” begins Saturday morning with a series of guests including World War II veterans, Purple Heart recipients, along with members of the Freedom Alliance and The Real Warriors.

Additionally, KQRS will talk with representatives from the American Legion discussing their “Shop, Ship & Share” initiative where consumers can donate needed items to our troops and have them shipped overseas during the holidays.

Starting at 10am until 6pm, each hour will feature an “Honorary Military Guest DJ”. In October, KQRS encouraged listeners to nominate a Veteran to enjoy a unique experience of being on KQRS playing music, sharing stories and shout outs to friends and family. Each “honorary guest DJ” will receive a digital download of their radio show as a keepsake and to share with friends, family and military colleagues.

Military Guest DJ’s are listed here: www.92kqrs.com/veterans-day.

The Military Takeover was an idea developed by Scott Jameson, Operations Manager for Cumulus Media’s KQRS in Minneapolis who routinely reads “Military Tributes” on the KQRS Morning Show recognizing retired and active duty Minnesota military personnel. Jameson states, “I wanted to do something special for the Vets who have been so loyal to KQRS all these years. Hosting your own radio show is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will be a lot of fun for the Vets and for our listeners.”
